An autopsy report, only recently unsealed by the N.C. Medical Examiner's Office, showed that 84 year-old Irene Bryant might have tried to defend herself against her attacker.

It was previously reported that Bryant died from blunt force trauma to the head, but the autopsy report also revealed that Bryant also had a broken left hand and broken forearm, injuries consistent with selfdefensive injuries.
