Asheville Symphony Presents 'Valentine's Viennese Romance""
The Asheville Symphony Orchestra will continue its 47th season of Masterworks concerts on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m., at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in downtown Asheville. Music Director Daniel Meyer will lead works by Brahms, Saint-Saëns, and Johann Strauss, Jr., with guest violin soloist Celeste Golden.
The concert will feature the "Symphony No. 3 in F major, Op. 90," by Johannes Brahms, written in 1883, the year Richard Wagner died. Today music lovers savor the works of both Wagner and Brahms, but for years, their supporters viewed themselves as diametrically opposed factions.
