Children To Learn While Getting A Little Muddy

This Spring, Brevard Middle School students will be getting a taste of nature and perhaps a little mud on their sneakers. It's all part of a new concept in learning being brought to the mountains.

The new environmental education initiative, Muddy Sneakers, was inspired by Sandy Schenck, owner of Green River Preserve, which is an environmentally focused summer camp near Brevard, and John Huie, former director of North Carolina Outward Bound School.
