City Sign Moratorium Rejected, 3-2

A moratorium on electronic signs in Brevard was rejected Monday by a majority of Council members.

Councilmen Mack McKeller, Mac Morrow and Larry Canady voted against the proposal that would have prohibited the city's Planning Department from approving any new electronic signs for six months.

During that time, the staff would have reviewed the current regulations on electronic signs and then recommended any changes.

Prior to the vote, McKeller suggested electronic signs weren't a major issue, but imposing a moratorium would push it to "the top of the list," burdening an already busy Planning...
