Ecusta Clean Up Could Take Two Years


It could take up to two years to clean up the former Ecusta site, which contains mercury, dioxin and other contaminants. That was part of the message delivered by state and federal officials and a Renova representative to about 70 local residents in the Dunham Auditorium Thursday night.

Government officials acknowledged the site contains low levels of mercury and dioxins, most of which are probably centered in the electro-chemical building that generated bleach for the plant.
