Power Out After Pole Falls Over
A deteriorated utility pole on Gallimore Road in Brevard snapped in half on Thursday, dragging down live power lines and causing 3,400 residents to be without power for roughly four hours.
Randall Gant, construction and maintenance supervisor for Duke Energy, said the pole, which was supporting a transformer, might have been weakened by recent strong winds when it fell around 2 p.m.
"This is one of the main feeds that supplies Brevard. We've had to shut down a pretty decent size area," Gant said on Thursday.
