Brevard's B.J. Owens Signs To Play For Mars Hill
With the snap of two bones on a cold, rainy Sept. 14, B.J. Owens' football career seemed over just when it was beginning to heat up.
Owens was an integral part of a huge Blue Devil offensive line that caused havoc for opposing defenses the past three seasons — until a player was knocked into him and snapped the tibia and fibula of his right leg.
It was the kind of injury that queases the stomach not the least of which because of the time he lay on the turf at Asheville High and the sight of their big lineman leaving under the flashing red lights of a Buncombe County ambulance.
