Forest Historian Speaks At Library


The Transylvania County Library's monthly Bag Lunch Arts Series continues on Tuesday, March 18, at noon. Biltmore Estate's landscape and forest historian Bill Alexander will present a program detailing the establishment and continuing history of the Estate's nursery including its rich botanical legacy. Alexander is the author of "The Biltmore Nursery: A Botanical Legacy," an overview and complete reproduction of the 1912 Biltmore Nursery Catalog. The book also tells the story of the nursery from its establishment in 1889 to its destruction during a catastrophic flood in 1916.
