Hob Rejects District Expansion
Any expansion of the special tax district's boundaries was opposed by Heart of Brevard (HOB) officials Wednesday.
The Heart of Brevard Board of Directors met to discuss the issue that was introduced during the City Council retreat in January.
The unanimous vote will recommend to the City Council not to expand the current district, which encompasses about 126 land parcels in downtown.
Mayor Jimmy Harris has been one of the most vocal opponents of expanding the district. Those in the district are currently taxed 30.5 cents per $100 of valuation which brings in about $106,000 a year.
