Kelvin Phillips Likes To Keep His Eye On County Spending

Transylvania County native Kelvin Phillips is seeking a second four-year term on the county Board of Commissioners in the May Republican primary.

Phillips, a graduate of Rosman High School and owner of KP Steel, worked in several departments at DuPont for 26 years before deciding to go out on his own.

He's owned KP Steel, a distributor of metal roofing and siding materials, for 12 years and enjoyed an annual growth rate of 15-18 percent, he said.

His son has joined him in the business, which sometimes takes him out of the county to make deliveries.
