'The Cherokee And Nature' To Be Presented

The Cherokee lived in Western North Carolina for hundreds of years and like all indigenous people depended on the land and forests for their food. The forests were still productive at the end of their occupation. How they treated the forests and how they maintained their practices through instruction, legend and myths is a fascinating story. At the Sierra Club Pisgah Group March meeting, in a talk entitled "The Cherokee and Nature, Captured in their Ancient Stories," Keith Parker will describe the Cherokee lifestyle and history, as revealed in myths and stories.
