Bear And Raccoon Hunting Banned At DuPont This Year
There will be no bear and raccoon hunting this year on the grounds of the 10,400-acre DuPont State
Forest, despite concerns raised by some individuals that there are nuisance bears on the property.
The N.C. Forest Service has rejected a proposal from state wildlife officials to allow the practice.
But the Division of Forest Resources has approved a plan by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission to expand deer hunting season from two to three days a week, adding Thursday to lottery hunts that have in the past been held on Friday and Saturday each fall.
