Students Learn Life Or Death Lesson

On Friday, 242 juniors and seniors at Brevard High School were excused from their normal studies to participate in a lesson a little bit out of the ordinary. The lesson — drunk driving.

The one-day class, sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA), allowed students to experience first-hand what it feels like to drive while intoxicated.

School Resource Officer Mark Ellenberger and social studies teacher Nicole Owenby, who is also an SGA sponsor, thought up the idea.
