Study: More Restrictions Needed To Stop Flooding

 


More restrictions on use of land in areas believed to be vulnerable to flooding is one of the recommendations in a study conducted for the county and the City of Brevard.

McGill Associates, the engineering firm retained by the city and county to consider the issue, has been at work since last year with a committee made up of city and county officials.

On Monday, McGill, represented by Jason Gillespie and Jonathan Heald, proposed the city and county increase the margin of safety above base flood elevations shown on flood maps from 1 to at least 2 feet.
