The Friday April 18, and Saturday, April 19, performances are at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday April 20, matinee is at 3 p.m.

Set in the early 1970s, "Crimes of the Heart" is the tale of the Magrath sisters of Hazlehurst, Mississippi — Lenny, Meg and Babe, who are reunited after several years when Babe, the youngest, is arrested for shooting her politician husband. Meg, the middle sister, returns from Hollywood in the midst of a dismal, failed attempt at a singing career on the same day that sister Lenny tries to enjoy her 30th birthday, which is anything but happy.

Also thrown into this exasperating mix are an annoying, uptight cousin, an old boyfriend of Meg's and a young lawyer whose very first case is defending Babe. This all adds up to a sometimes dark human comedy par excellence and a touching and hilariously funny evening in the theatre.

As the theatre critic for New York Magazine observed, "From time to time a play comes along that restores one's faith in our theatre."

Henley's "Crimes of the Heart" is one of those plays.

The production is directed by Michael Lilly, free-lance director and the scene and light designs are by Thomas Oosting, Brevard College acting coordinator of Theatre Studies. The cast for the production in-cludes Jesse Combest, Kelly Bone, Evelyn Pearson, Ayla Peterson, Chris Dixon and William McCormick.

The production stage manager is Courtney Brandon. The assistant director is Katherine Parnell. The costume designer is Christina Caldemeyer, the assistant lighting designer is Erin O'Rourke and the sound Designer is Dwight Chiles.
