Commissioners Not Keen On Imposing Land Transfer Tax

 


The rising price of gas, food

and land makes this a poor time to raise sales taxes or impose a tax on land transfers, members of the Transylvania Board of Commissioners said Saturday.

But relatively low interest rates mean it might make some sense to borrow a certain amount of money to pay for needed projects like a county park in Rosman, replacement of the deteriorating county school administration building or other needs, commissioners said during a planning session at the county library.
