Board Supports Branch Campus

 


The Transylvania County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Monday to support a resolution in favor of establishing a branch campus of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in western North Carolina.

The American Association of Medical Colleges and the North Carolina Institute of Medicine predict a severe shortage of physicians by 2020 and have called for a 30 percent increase in medical school enrollment.
