Dodson: 'Be Honest,Work Hard And Help Others'
By Kathleen Healy
Jerri Dodson was born to a life of learning and growing that she has lived to the fullest measure. Born in the foothills, Jerald Novine was the 12th child of Lassie and Mary Loftis of Anderson, S.C.
"My father would bring us up into the mountains to visit friends," said Dodson. "I grew up both here and there."
The daughter of a cattle farmer, she learned a lot about the land. Cotton, peanuts, corn and other crops were grown on the farm.
"The government would give us subsidies to not grow on some of the fields, but we always grew our own food," she said.
