Soccer is one of the fastest-growing sports in the nation, and Transylvania County is no exception.

But for as long as the game has been played, and for all the hundreds of children and adults involved, there has never been a regulation-size field on which to play.

A field should measure 120 yards by 80 yards for players to get the full effect of playing. Currently, fields are much smaller than that.

A group of concerned citizens is about to change all that — and are in the midst of a fundraising campaign to establish a field at the City of Brevard's Sports Complex on Ecusta Road.
