In a game Forbush coach Kenan James called "state championship-worthy," Forbush got early goals from all-star midfielder Jessica Baity and made them stand up in a 2-0 win over Brevard in the second round of the state playoffs at Forbush Friday night.

The game matched the 2A teams with the two best records in the western half of the state, with each team entering the game riding a 13-game unbeaten streak. The teams faced each other early in the playoffs because of an unfavorable draw Brevard received in the Western Athletic Conference seedings process.
