Autopsy: Death Caused By Shot To The Head

John Bryant, whose remains were found in February in a Macon County forest, died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to an autopsy report from the N.C. Chief Medical Examiner's Office.

The 80-year-old Bryant was killed by a single gunshot wound to the right side of the head causing injury to the skull and brain. There were no other blunt or sharp force injuries found.

The body was identified through dental records.

Delivered with the body was a partially opened red gunshot shell containing birdshot and a pacemaker.
