Rosabelle M. Tillinghast


Rosabelle M. Tillinghast, born at Saunderstown, R.I. on June 27, 1919 died peacefully at her home near Brevard, on May 7, 2008 after a brief illness. She was 88.

Tillinghast grew up in Rhode Island and Texas, attended St. Mary's School for girls in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Vassar College in 1940. In 1941 she married Charles F. Tillinghast and moved to Weaverville, after he had completed his duty during WWII in the Navy.

She was a lifelong lover of horses and was instrumental in being co-organizer of the Western North Carolina Pony Club with Jane Bingham. She was actively invol...
