Fuel Costs Could Be Budget 'Wild Card'

 


Perhaps the biggest wild card for the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners as it works on its budget for 2008-2009 is the increasing price of gasoline and diesel fuel.

No one knows how much fuel prices will change in the year ahead, or exactly how much money should be set aside to pay for the expense. While cutting back on travel is one option, it would cause a reduction of services to the public, according to County Manager Artie Wilson.

"We're currently paying more for fuel than what we put in the budget," Wilson said.
