Forest Bridge Almost Finished
Nearly four years after Hurricanes Frances and Ivan slammed into western North Carolina, bringing floods and landslides to the mountains, their impacts are still felt all over the region.
One site that has languished in disrepair during that time span is the concrete bridge over Cove Creek on Forest Service Road 475.
During Hurricane Frances, floodwaters washed thousands of tons of rock and other debris into the bridge, much of it lodging in one of the three concrete channels that allowed creek water to flow through.
