Officials: No Relief In Sight For Drought
Drought conditions persist in Transylvania County, and there is no significant relief in sight, local officials say.
"Short of a hurricane coming and changing things, dry weather is expected to continue into the fall," said Bob Twomey, a district conservationist with the U.S. Natural Resources Conservation Service.
The latest North Carolina Drought Management Advisory Council report still lists Transylvania as being in an exceptional drought, the worst category possible, along with neighboring Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson and Jackson counties.
