Climber Injured After 100-Foot Fall

A 31-year-old climber from Georgia is recovering after falling more than 100 feet while rappelling Looking Glass Rock on Monday night.

The climber's name has not been released because of confidentiality reasons, according to Vince Stone, the chief of the Brevard Rescue Squad, which responded to the scene.

The rescue squad responded to a call around 9:32 p.m., and the man was on his way to Missions Hospital in Asheville by 1:18 a.m.

"He did have some injuries, which I can't go into, but he was quite alert when he was transported to Missions Hospital," Stone said...
