Corridor Committee Facing Difficult Realities, The 'Z' Word

 


An exchange between two members of the Highway 64 and 280 Corridor Protection Study committee on Thursday illustrated the problem of reconciling land-use management with private property rights.

Prior to the exchange, the committee discussed what potentially could happen to a 66-acre piece of property off N.C. 280 that is on the market.

A developer could build multiple units on the property and N.C. 280 would have to deal with significant increased traffic, said John Dillon, a committee member who lives and owns a business off the highway.
