SAT Scores Improve Countywide Over Last Year


Transylvania County Schools saw its 2008 Standardized Achievement Test (SAT) scores increase by 26 points over last year.

This year's average score was 1,539 compared to 1,513 last year. The top score someone may achieve is 2,400.

Transylvania County students scored 28 points higher than the national average and 50 points higher than the state average.

The SAT is given to college-bound students to determine their aptitude in math, verbal and writing skills.

This test is one of the more commonly accepted and required tests for college and university admission.
