WNC Welcomes Barack Obama

Seventeen-year-old Emily Robinson isn't old enough to vote yet, but she traveled from Burnsville to Asheville on Sunday, "excited" by U.S. Sen. Barack Obama's campaign for president.

Robinson and her mother were among thousands who waited in long lines on a hot and sunny October day to hear the Democratic Party candidate speak at the Asheville High School football stadium. The police estimated 22,000 were in the stadium, while another 6,000 were outside.

"What a spectacular place to be, here in Asheville, North Carolina," Obama said.

"It's God's country."
