County Enacts Spending Budget


Tough economic times have forced Transylvania County Manager Artie Wilson to place restraints on hiring, capital expenditures and other spending.

Wilson told county commissioners on Monday during their latest meeting of his ongoing study of revenues and expenditures.

Revenues from sales taxes and permit fees have slumped, he said, and made it necessary to respond with changes in county spending.

He plans to deliver a more detailed report to commissioners by the end of the month, he said.
