One-Stop Voting Gets off To A Record Start


One-stop voting is off to a record-breaking start in Transylvania County for the fall election, said Judy Mathews, the director of the Board of Elections.

Mathews said 732 people, a record, voted on the first day of one-stop on

Thursday at the old county library on Broad Street in Brevard.

On Friday, the turnout was nearly as good, with more than 700 additional voters turning out to cast ballots.

Voters got another chance to cast ballots on Saturday morning, and another 300 of them took part.

As of early Monday morning, Mathews said 1,649 people had voted.

So far, 778 registered Democrats...
