Record Numbers Expected To Vote Tuesday

 


Tuesday is election day, and a record turnout is expected, election officials say.

Spurred by a hotly contested presidential race and a troubled economy, nearly 2.6 million North Carolina voters, or more than 40 percent of those registered, have already cast a ballot in one-stop voting.

In Transylvania County, 9,923 people voted during one-stop voting. Of those, 3,855 were Democrats, 3,467 were Republicans and 2,598 were unaffiliated. Three were Libertarians.
