Transylvania Goes For John McCain; Country Picks Obama

President-elect Barack Obama looks to have pulled out a win in North Carolina, according to the N.C. Board of Elections, but Transylvania County sided with John McCain.

In the county, Obama received 7,203 votes to 9,299 votes for McCain. Libertarian Bob Barr got 146 votes.

As of 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Obama had 2,110,285 votes statewide to McCain's 2,098,595. Barr had 25,293.

Sara Champion, the Democratic candidate for county commissioner, said the election of Obama was proof that "anything is possible." While for many years, people have noted that 12 former presidents owned slaves, she said...
