Women Lead The Way On School Board

Three women are posed to join the Transylvania County Board of Education, but provisional votes could still have a say.

As of Wednesday morning, Cindy Petit, a 43-year-old Rosman High graduate and owner of Quebec Florist and Quebec Stow Away, was the highest vote getter with 5,910 votes. Sheila McBee Norman came in second place with 5,609 votes, while Tawny McCoy received 5,304 votes.

Of the other seven candidates seeking one of the three open seats, Jeremy Queen came in fourth with 5,205 votes. Queen could still challenge McCoy for the third seat as roughly 275 provisional votes have yet t...
