Saftey Complex Taking Shape

The new 63,000-square-foot Transylvania County Public Safety Complex is beginning to look like the major facility it was designed to be.

In January, ground was broken on the $20 million building, and construction crews have made significant progress on the structure, which will house a new county jail, sheriff's office and communications headquarters.

"The county is going to have a great facility when we finish [scheduled for next July]," said Scott Heatherly, site superintendent for M.B. Kahn.

Kahn is the Greenville construction firm serving as general contractor.
