Downtown Looking Over Its Shoulder


The impact of the proposed Davidson River Village (DRV) on the City of Brevard, including downtown, is potentially far-reaching.

The developers currently propose up to 1,000 dwelling units, 250,000 square feet of resort/lodging space, 150,000 square feet of office/industrial space and 850,000 square feet of retail space.

DRV, according to a report by the City Planning staff, would likely competes with downtown.

The report recommend that the city, the county, Chamber of Commerce, Heart of Brevard and the Tourism Development Authority must work more closely than ever to promote downtown.
