Raging Rooster Pecks Woman 71 Times, But Crows No More

Mary Lou Woodring has been around chickens for most of her 72 years. But on Oct. 15, the Diamond Creek resident gained a new appreciation for their beaks and tenacity when she was pecked 71 times by a rooster, causing a fractured pelvis and concussion.

I have never heard tell in all my life where a chicken attacked someone. I heard tell of them flogging but not attacking," said Woodring.

Woodring said she was surprised when her generally normal and tame white rock rooster began to show aggression.

"I was walking outside around the house to put up two jars of green beans into the basement,"...
