School Board Discusses Sales Tax Option

The Transylvania County Board of Education is considering requesting a percentage of sales tax revenues be dedicated to school capital projects.
During its annual retreat on Monday, the board discussed a similar action taken in Buncombe County. Its school officials had legislation passed in Raleigh, allowing a small percentage of sales tax revenues to be dedicated to capital projects. Capital projects can include repairs and construction of new buildings.
