Judge Places More Restrictions On Rape Suspect

A judge Friday placed stricter bond conditions on first-degree rape suspect Joe Gentry, while also ordering him to have a new psychological evaluation to see if he is competent to proceed with the charges facing him.

Judge Don Bridges made the rulings at the Transylvania County Courthouse during hearings on two motions by the District Attorney's Office.

Assistant District Attorney Beth Dierauf argued in one motion that Gentry, who is diagnosed with autism, had violated conditions placed by Bridges on a $100,000 bond in September 2009.
