Falls Overlook Is Now Open To All The Public

Jack Benmark was the first person in a wheelchair to enjoy the new overlook.

A labor of love for some and the focus of some seven years of dedication and effort for many, the Connestee Falls Overlook officially became a reality on Saturday morning.

Supporters of the project joined officials from Transylvania County and across the state to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony just as skies began to clear and rain moved away from the region.

More than 4 inches of rain fell overnight, loading Connestee Falls and Batson Falls to a roaring capacity.
