Schenck Job Corps Begins New Tradition


Schenck students spent countless hours working on their derby car.

The Squirrel Box Derby is held every year in Brevard during Memorial Day weekend. However, this year was the first year that Schenck Job Corps students built their own car to race in the derby.

Schenck students from many different vocational trades spent several months working on their car for the derby. Welding students spent hundreds of hours building everything except the body of the car. These students worked on the steering, frame, axles, brakes, and the adjustable seat for the car.
