Brevard Symphonic Winds To Feature Two Unique Works


Two works at opposite ends of the musical spectrum frame the Brevard Symphonic Winds fall 2011 concert. Both works offer fresh insights into traditional musical forms which have been in use for centuries.

Paul Fauchet’s Sym-phony in B flat written in 1926, is one of the earliest attempts to translate the essence of the symphony from an orchestral setting to one suitable for wind bands. Written in late European Romantic style, the four movement symphony offers a kaleidoscope of melody and harmony showcasing the different tone qualities that wind instruments offer.
