Funds Sought To Dislodge Large Log Jam


Bob Twomey calls it “the largest log jam” he has ever seen on the French Broad River and it is continuing to get “bigger.”

The log/debris jam sits on the main channel of the French Broad River roughly 1,200 feet upstream of the confluence of Little River. Twomey, a district conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), first viewed the log/debris jam, at the bequest of landowners, in fall of last year.
