The Transylvania Times -

Whitworth Concert To Benefit Animal Shelter

Shannon Whitworth

On Sunday, March 11, singer/songwriter Shannon Whitworth will perform at the Porter Center on Brevard College’s campus in a benefit concert to support fundraising efforts for the Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS). This community volunteer group is raising money to bridge the gap between the public money committed by Transylvania County and the cost to build the long awaited new Animal Shelter on Old Rosman Highway at Calvert Road.

Whitworth, an animal lover and resident of Transylvania County, and Mountain Song Productions are working together to bring this event to the Porter Center. This concert will feature Shannon’s full band and showcase some of their new material on an upcoming CD to be released later this spring.

There will be a pre-party in the lobby of the Porter Center starting at 6 p.m. where wine, beer and other refreshments will be served. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at Rockin Robin or go to the web at http://www.AnimalShelterTC.org for link to purchase tickets online. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Fundraising to date has been very successful. As the spring ground breaking approaches, Friends of the Animal Shelter needs to raise an additional $174,000 to reach its full goal.
