Jury Finds Teen Guilty

Mason Simpson was given a 25-to-39 month suspended sentence Friday after a Transylvania County jury found the 18 year old guilty of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

In the trial that began Wednesday, the prosecution described how Simpson, who was 17 at the time of the incident, stabbed his friend, Nick Mooney, with a knife following an altercation over stolen property in the Ingles parking lot on the night of Dec. 14, 2010.
