Rotary Club

The July 18 meeting of the Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest will feature Rod Webb, “Mr. RYLA” (Rotary Youth Leadership Award program) for Transylvania County. Webb will share insights and experiences from the recently completed annual RYLA Camp at the Brevard Music Center.

This breakfast meeting will begin at 8 a.m. at the Glen Cannon Country Club.

The club program chairman for the month of July is Jim Robards.

Ikenobo Ikebana,

The Ikenobo Ikebana Society, Blue Ridge Chapter, will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, July 19, at 10 a.m. at the Parish Hall of St. John in the Wilderness Church in Flat Rock. Members usually arrive by 9:45 a.m. to allow time for socializing and informal discussion.


The July program will be a demonstration of Shoka Isshuike, a traditional and technically precise style of arrangement. Guests are welcome to observe. Call (828) 456-5143 for additional information.

Art Guild

Barbara Walter was winner in the Show and Tell event at the July meeting of the Transylvania Art Guild.

Second place went to Everett Schmidt, and third to Ann Stoutamire. The Show and Tell is a monthly competition in which members submit paintings on a given theme and the winner is chosen by a vote of members. The theme for July was waterfalls.

The Transylvania Art Guild is an association of persons interested in painting and meets the first Thursday of the month at the Transylvania County Parks and Recreation Center off Ecusta Road. The public is invited.
