Commissioners Approve New Animal Shelter — Transylvania County NC

After six years of discussion, county commissioners Monday voted 3-1 to move ahead with a new animal shelter.

A timeline for the construction of the shelter, which is expected to cost $1,144,757, has not been announced.

County commissioners agreed to finance $741,000 of the costs, with the city of Brevard providing an additional $100,000.

The nonprofit The Friends of the Animal Shelter will contribute the remaining amount through private donations. So far, the group has raised $242,000.
