Take Your Child On A Math Hunt

 


How many of us have said or heard someone say, “I was never good at math?” Too many times that is how we think.

But in reality, we are all good at math. We use it every day. We tend to think of math as just numbers, but those numbers have little meaning without words. What time is it? How much will two hamburgers cost? What change will I get from my $5 bill? Numbers and words go hand in hand.

When students enter school, they learn to say the numbers in order. Symbols are attached to the words, and then quantities are attached to the symbols. Soon operations, adding, subtr...
