Our People, Our Past: Early Pisgah Forest

Spring has arrived and the first waves of summer tourists will soon arrive in earnest. And without a doubt, one of the first places many head is to Pisgah National Forest, especially the main entrance at Pisgah Forest. Highway 276 along Davidson River is a must do on everyone’s list.

Summer visitors make a beeline for that route which passes deep into nature, through deep cool forest, as it ascends to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Few if any would ever imagine just how much that land has changed in a few short generations.
