Council Appears To Favor 2-Cent Tax Increase - Brevard NC

 


Brevard City Council is leaning toward approving a 2-cent property tax increase and increases in utility rates.

This Monday, council will hold a budget public hearing followed by possible passage of the city spending plans for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins July 1.

The city’s current property tax rate is .4325 cents per $100 of valuation.

If the council approves a 2-cent increase, the owner of a $200,000 home and property would pay $40 more a year in taxes.

Last month, City Manager Joe Moore presented a $20.4 million budget and called for a 4-cent increase plus utility increases....
